Helpful Ingredient Tips

  • Puff Pastry Dough – I used this puff pastry dough here. I am sure that whatever your local grocery store has will work.
  • Apple Pie Filling – For my apple pie filling, I used a homemade canned version from fresh apples, however, you can use any type of apple pie filling.
  • Whole Milk – To create a glaze over top, I mixed together powdered sugar and milk.
  • Powdered Sugar

  3. Unroll the puff pastry sheets and cut each sheet into 6 equal squares, for 12 squares total.

Storage and Reheating

Storage

Room temperature: Store leftover apple hand pies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. The puff pastry is best enjoyed fresh, as it will soften over time.

Refrigerator: To keep them longer, store the hand pies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheating: For the best texture, reheat the hand pies in a 350°F oven or air fryer for 3–5 minutes, or until warmed through and the pastry is crisp again. You can also microwave them for 15–20 seconds, but the pastry will be softer.

Freezing: Freeze the hand pies before adding the glaze for the best results. Let them cool completely, then place them in a freezer-safe container with parchment paper between layers. Freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator or at room temperature, reheat in the oven, and drizzle with fresh glaze before serving.
