Creamy Sausage Pasta

My kids are big fans of pasta, and honestly, so am I. I can turn some $2.00 pasta into an amazing one pan dinner in less than 30 minutes and feel like I’m an award-winning chef. This recipe is one of the easiest pasta recipes you can find with minimal prep and mostly pantry ingredients. It’s kid approved, yet also robust enough to be husband approved as well.

Recipe Ingredient Tips

  • Beef Smoked Sausage – Often times when I am at the store, I will grab a pack of this beef smoked sausage. I keep it in the fridge for days when I need a quick go-to recipe. It’s perfect for this recipe and is so delicious.
  • Rigatoni Pasta – You can use really whatever pasta you have on hand. I love rigatoni pasta because the noodles are big and soft and pair well with the sausage.
  • Diced Tomatoes – Adding a little tomato with to this recipe helps to compliment the flavors of the beef, cream and pasta. I always use the petite diced tomatoes so that the tomato pieces are small and not overwhelmingly big. Otherwise, my kids complain.
  • Chicken Broth – I love to cook noodles in chicken broth to give them some extra flavor rather than just water.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream – To achieve the creaminess in the pasta, I used heavy whipping cream because it makes it smooth and rich.
  • Parmesan Cheese – Parmesan cheese has the best unique flavor that is so good with this recipe. I added a few sprinkles of parmesan cheese to this recipe to make it even better.

Storage and Reheating

Store leftover Creamy Sausage Penne Pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.

Reheat in the microwave in 30–60 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until heated through. You can also reheat it in a skillet over medium-low heat. If the pasta seems dry, add a splash of chicken broth or heavy cream while reheating to bring the creamy sauce back together.

Gluten Free Creamy Sausage Pasta

This recipe can easily be adapted to be gluten free. Simply swap out the regular noodles for gluten free noodles. Here are the noodles I suggest and love:
