Steak Fried Rice Recipe

I’m just going to say this, this might be my favorite fried rice recipe, ever. Let me tell you how this recipe came about.

I love a good steak. Like so very much. I mean we are ranchers. It’s like un-rancherish to not like steak. However, most of the time, I have a hard time eating an entire steak by myself. So, what usually happens, is I have leftover steak sitting in the fridge. One day, I had forgotten about this delicious ribeye steak that was sitting in my fridge. And it was dinnertime. So, I was scouring the fridge looking for dinner inspiration to hit me, when I saw this ribeye steak. I didn’t want it to go to waste so I started looking for other things that could go with it. I had some veggies that needed to be used up and before I knew it, I had decided that I was going to make steak fried rice.

I made the recipe like usually but instead of making this recipe with the usual diced ham, I cut up small pieces of the ribeye steak to add to the rice instead. And holy cow, it was so good! My kids and husband loved it. So now, anytime we have steak, I cook an extra steak on the grill so that later on that week, we can have steak fried rice.

Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!

What Ingredients Are in Steak Fried Rice?

  • Leftover Ribeye Steak – As previously mentioned, I like to use ribeye steak for this recipe. Because it’s already cooked, it cuts down on the amount of prep time. I also like to use ribeye steak for this steak fried rice recipe because ribeye steak is tender and highly marbled which allows for richer flavor. We also use our homegrown grass-finished beef which is even better.
  • Jasmine Rice – Jasmine rice is my favorite rice of all time. Jasmine rice is a fragrant Thai rice that is aromatic and considered to be a “long-grain” rice. Each grain is about four times as long as it is wide. I have tried this recipe with brown rice, white rice and Jasmine rice, and the texture and flavor were overall better with Jasmine rice.
  • Onion Powder – I’m sure you already know this but, rice doesn’t have a lot of flavor. So we’re really going to add some flavor to this recipe with some onion powder and some other spices. Onion powder gives a nice flavor to this steak fried rice.
  • Minced Garlic – Bringing in some big flavor over here with minced garlic. I think that the minced garlic really compliments all the other flavors in the steak fried rice as well.
  • Sesame Oil – When you’re wanting more of a Thai or Asian flavor, you’re going to want to add in some sesame oil. Sesame oil is extracted from toasted sesame seeds and has a rich flavor that makes this steak fried rice so yummy.
  • Eggs
  • Carrots – I use fresh carrots for this steak fried rice however, frozen carrots will do as well.
  • Frozen Peas
  • Soy Sauce – I use light soy sauce or All-Purpose Soy Sauce for this recipe and both work well.
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

To make this recipe gluten free, you will need to use a gluten free soy sauce. Below is my favorite gluten free soy sauce. I have also found a few local brands of soy sauce that are gluten free. It’s best to check the label though before purchasing soy sauce to make sure it really is gluten free.
