Stuffed French Toast Recipe
This recipe here, this is my origin story. I created this recipe about 14 years ago when my husband and I were first married. We were living in a tiny townhome and I was going to nursing school. I loved to cook, but honestly wasn’t very good at it yet. I made this recipe because I loved French toast and it was the first recipe that my husband raved about me making. I went to clinicals and shared this recipe with a Physical Therapist I was working with. He came back the next week and told me that he made it for his family and they loved it! It was a little bit shocking because no one had really loved my recipes before.
Since then, I have shared this recipe with many, many people. My little brother was dating his now wife and called me for this recipe. He wanted to make it for his soon to be in-laws. I shared it with him and that was that. Recently, we went on a family trip and my brother, and his wife were in charge of breakfast for our entire clan. They made my stuffed French toast recipe and raved about how good it was. It made my heart so happy. So much behind the scenes work goes into creating these recipes and it just warmed my heart to see someone love these recipes that has taken me years to create and perfect.
The Cowboys’ Rating: 10/10
Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!
What Ingredients Are in Stuffed French Toast?
- Cinnamon Swirl Bread – This is my favorite bread to make stuffed French toast with. This bread makes the best French toast.
- Eggs – Of course, you can’t make French toast without eggs.
- Milk -Whole milk is what I use for added flavor. The added fat gives it a better flavor.
- Vanilla – I use real vanilla in both the eggs and the cream cheese filling.
- Cream Cheese – Full fat cream cheese is the best. It has a rich flavor and makes the creamiest filling.
- Salted Butter – This is for the filling and needs to be softened. I like to set it out about an hour before making this to allow the butter to come to room temperature.
- Powdered Sugar – This paired with the cream cheese makes a perfectly sweet and decadent filling.

How to Store Stuffed French Toast
We like to store the leftover French toast in the fridge and the filling separate. The reason being is when these sit in the fridge with the cream cheese filling in the middle, it tends to make the French toast soggy. Store the French toast and filling in a separate airtight container, then reheat the French toast and add the filling after warming the French toast up. This is perfect for a quick weekday breakfast!
