Easy Taco Recipe

Tacos are the best ever. We could have tacos multiple times a week and no one would in our household would complain one bit. Now then, yes tacos are simple. But let’s take these tacos to the next level…

Hear me out, sheet pan tacos.

I know, it’s a crazy idea. If I can sheet pan a recipe, I am definitely going to try it. (Like pancakes, have you tried my sheet pan pancakes yet?) K sorry, I’m getting off topic. Sheet pan recipes are just easy! So, I decided I was going to try sheet pan tacos. And you know what? They’re amazing.

I love to make them when we have a busy week or when I’m feeding a lot of people. One sheet pan serves 8-10 people! Now I mean normal eating people. We’re not counting feral ranch kids (umm my boys) who have the appetites of grown men. But try these and see what you think! I think you’re going to love them!

The Cowboys’ Rating: 9/10

Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!

What Ingredients Are in Sheet Pan Tacos?

  • Ground Beef – As always, we use our own homegrown ground beef that is grass-finished and regeneratively raised. It’s delicious, lean and so good. Our ground beef is 90/10 and I never have to drain off a bunch of fat.
  • Minced Garlic – My go-to ingredient for great flavor without being overpowering.
  • Onion Powder – My second go-to ingredient for great flavor! (Everyone at my house hates onions so this is how I sneak in some extra flavor!)
  • Taco Seasoning – Taco seasoning can vary so much with the prepackaged stuff. So, I make my own homemade taco seasoning which is our family’s favorite taco seasoning. It’s not too overpowering and is packed full of flavor.
  • Large Flour Tortillas – You will want to use the largest tortillas you can find for this recipe. It helps when you start folding the tortillas in the sheet pan. (If you want to be a total overachiever, you can make my homemade tortillas. They’re so good!)
  • Mexican Cheese Blend – Mexican cheese has the best cheese blend for a great flavored taco. So, I like to use the Mexican blend for this sheet pan tacos recipe.
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Tools You’ll Need

Recipe for Taco Pasta

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a frying pan, combine ground beef and seasonings and cook until completely cooked through. When done, remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  4. Layer the tortillas on the baking sheet. Place 2-3 tortillas in the center of the baking sheet and the other tortillas so that half the tortilla hangs over the edge of the baking sheet. Continue until the sheet pan has been covered completely making sure there aren’t any gaps.
  5. Layer the ground beef in the center of the tortillas and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle generously with cheese.
  7. Add 2-3 tortillas in the center of the baking sheet over top of the beef and cheese mixture, then fold in the tortillas around the edges, once again making sure there aren’t any gaps left.
  8. To make sure the tortillas remain in place while baking, take another baking sheet and place it on top of the sheet pan tacos for a few minutes while baking. This will make it so the tortillas don’t unfold while baking. (Remove after 5 minutes of baking).
  9. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the top of the sheet pan tacos are golden brown.
  10. Remove from heat and serve with your favorite toppings.
  11. Enjoy!

Gluten Free Tacos

This recipe can easily be made to be gluten free! Here’s how:

First, make sure that you are using a gluten free taco seasoning. I have a homemade taco seasoning recipe that is gluten free here.

Second, you will want to choose a gluten free tortilla. These are my favorite gluten free tortillas that would work great for this recipe!

How to Store Sheet Pan Tacos

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When you’re ready to eat these a second time, here is how to make them taste just like they came out of the oven! Just pop them in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes on high. No soggy tortillas here! You can also pop them back in the oven for a few minutes as well.
