Homemade Crepes
Homemade crepes are our family’s favorite breakfast food. Not only are they so delicious, but they’re so versatile too. Make them sweet or savory, the possibilities are endless!
Homemade Crepes Recipe
These crepes are my 9-year-old’s very favorite meal. For every birthday dinner of his, we have crepes. Anytime I ask him what he wants for dinner, crepes. I don’t blame him one bit because these crepes are absolutely delicious. They’re perfectly thin and delicious then you add in all the fixings, and it’s just divine.
These crepes are very simple to make, but it does take a little bit of time because you have to make them individually, but it is worth every second. This will be your new favorite weekend breakfast recipe!
The Cowboys’ Rating: 10/10
Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!
What Ingredients Are in Homemade Crepes?
- Whole Milk – I prefer to use whole milk in most of my recipes because of the higher fat content in the whole milk. Fat is flavor, so it makes the crepes more moist and flavorful.
- All-Purpose Flour – I used all-purpose flour for this recipe, but I have also made these homemade crepes using Gluten Free Flour. See below for more details on that.
- Butter – Salted butter is what I use for all my recipes unless otherwise specified.
- Eggs
- Vanilla – I wanted these crepes to have lots of flavor so I added in vanilla.
- Sugar – You want the batter to be slightly sweet, so adding in sugar is important.
- Salt – Salt is important in this recipe because it enhances all other flavors.
- Toppings – fruit, homemade raspberry jam (you can find my recipe here), homemade whipped cream (recipe here), syrup, peanut butter, etc… The possibilities are endless!
tips and tricks
It is important to refrigerate the batter for at least 30 minutes after it is made. This helps to hydrate the batter and results in more elastic, non-sticky crepes. You can refrigerate the batter for 24-48 hours before using it but no longer than 48 hours.

Gluten Free Crepes

Storage and Freezing
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days. These easy homemade crepes are a family favorite, so they go fast at our house. I usually double the batch so that my kids can have these as leftovers for breakfast during the week. They just take out how many they want, pop it in the microwave and add their favorite toppings.
