These meatball subs could not be easier, yet they are loaded with amazing flavor. This recipe is one that I pull out on those busy weekday nights when getting dinner on the table seriously seems impossible. We all know those nights.
I have included my recipe for beef meatballs that you can make from scratch, or you can use frozen premade meatballs. Whichever works best for you. What Ingredients Are in Easy Meatball Subs?
- Beef Meatballs – You can use frozen meatballs, or you can make my beef meatballs recipe that can be found here. When I make my beef meatballs, I usually freeze a bunch so that I can pull them out for recipes like this.
- Marinara Sauce – I use my homemade spaghetti sauce for this recipe so that it has extra flavor. You will want to use a spaghetti or marinara sauce that have lots of flavor so that your subs aren’t bland.
- Mozzarella Cheese or Provolone Cheese
- Parmesan Cheese
- Hoagie Buns

Tools You’ll Need
How to Make Easy Meatball Subs
- In a mixing bowl, make beef meatballs and set aside. (Or use premade meatballs).
- Place meatballs in a large frying pan and add in marinara sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 10-15 minutes until meatballs are completely cooked through.
- While meatballs are cooking, cut hoagie buns in half and butter each side. Place on a baking sheet, butter side up.
- Place buns under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until buns are golden brown. Immediately remove from oven and set aside.
- Spoon meatballs and sauce onto buns and generously sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Top with a tiny sprinkle of shredded parmesan cheese.
- Place subs on baking sheet and broil once again for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and serve.
- Enjoy!

How to Store Easy Meatball Subs
You will want to store the buns and meatballs separate in an airtight container in the fridge. This is because obviously the buns will get soggy if they are stored in the fridge premade.
