White Chocolate Chex Mix
Years ago, we had a neighbor who dropped off a tin of white chocolate Chex mix. It wasn’t anything fancy, just this simple little mix with a few yummy ingredients. But when I popped that into my mouth, holy cow, I could not stop eating it! I decided right then and there, I had to make my own recipe for this. I’ve added a few festive ingredients and made it my own. My kids love helping me make this delicious white chocolate Chex mix every year.
The Cowboys’ Rating: 10/10
Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!
What Ingredients are in Chocolate Chex Mix?
- Rice Chex Cereal – We love the flavor of rice Chex in this recipe. Rice Chex are also gluten free, so it also is wonderful to accommodate those who are gluten free.
- White Chocolate Chips – I usually buy generic white chocolate chips, but melting chocolate works just as well for this recipe.
- Canola Oil – I add a small amount of canola oil to the white chocolate to thin it out, helping it melt smoothly and coat the Rice Chex evenly without clumping.
- Powdered Sugar – I started adding powdered sugar a few years ago because I love muddie buddies and just wanted to see if this would be good too. I can confirm, coating the white chocolate Chex with a hint of powdered sugar is ridiculously good.
- Peanuts – The peanuts in this recipe help to balance the sweetness of the recipe. It also adds a little salty flavor that is so yummy.
- M&M’s – I love the variation of both the white chocolate and milk chocolate in this recipe. I grab a package of holiday M&M’s to make this recipe look fun and festive.
- Christmas Sprinkles – This is completely optional, but super fun to add some Christmas sprinkles to this Chex mix. My kids love when I add the Christmas sprinkles to this recipe.
- Milk Chocolate Chips (optional) – When I want to make this look extra fancy, I melt some milk chocolate chips and drizzle the chocolate over the top. You don’t have to do this for it to still be delicious.
