Baked Apple Fritters Recipe

I have been making ALL the apple dessert recipes this fall. I have loads of apples that need to be used, so I decided to make a baked apple fritter recipe. After a few attempts, and a few batches going to feed my chickens, I finally created the perfect baked apple fritter recipe.

The Cowboys’ Rating: 10/10

Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!

What Ingredients are in Baked Apple Fritters?

  • Fresh Apples – The apples that I used were gala apples, but I really believe you can use any variety of apples.
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • White Sugar – I used both white sugar and brown sugar to bring in different flavor.
  • Brown Sugar – Brown sugar is a softer sugar with a hint of molasses. It is delicious and adds both moisture and flavor to apple fritters.
  • Lemon Juice – The first thing I did was cut up my apples and then add lemon juice to them while I made the resto of the recipe. When you add lemon juice to apples, it actually enhances their flavor!
  • Cinnamon – Cinnamon and apples are the perfect combination. A little cinnamon in the batter really made the fritters so yummy!
  • Nutmeg – I also added nutmeg to the batter to add a tiny bit more flavor and make it really taste like a delicious fall treat.
  • Salt – I used a tiny bit of salt because salt always enhances flavors.
  • Butter – The dough is going to be pretty thick, and then you’re going to add in some melted butter at the end. Not only does this give more flavor but I noticed it made them more moist.
  • Baking Powder – Baking powder is a leavening agent which causes expansion and rising of your ingredients. I added a few teaspoons because I wanted them to rise vertically instead of horizontally.
  • Whole Milk – I will die on this hill, but I ALWAYS use whole milk in my recipes. Whole milk has a higher fat content which means more flavor.
  • Vanilla – I always make sure to use pure vanilla in my baking for better flavor.
  • Powdered Sugar – The glaze is going to be made of powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. It really just makes the perfect topping for these apple fritters.

This recipe can easily be adapted to be gluten free. You will want to swap out the flour for gluten free flour. My favorite gluten free flour is linked below. I also always caution to make sure all of your ingredients are indeed gluten free when baking.
