Cheeseburger Macaroni Casserole
This bacon cheeseburger casserole is one of those dinners that everyone gets excited about—especially kids. I made this the other night and my 7-year-old was so happy. He loves a good pasta casserole. It has all the familiar, comforting flavors of a classic cheeseburger baked into an easy, cozy meal that feels like I just spent hours in the kitchen making it.
It’s also perfect for simple meal prep and busy weeks. When I know that my day is going to be crazy, I like to prep this casserole in the morning, store it in the fridge, and then pull it out and bake it later for dinner. I also love, love that this casserole stores well, reheats beautifully, and makes leftovers you’ll actually look forward to, making it a no-stress comfort food you can count on again and again.
The Cowboys’ Rating: 9/10
Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!
What Ingredients Are in Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole?
- Ground Beef – As always, we use our own homegrown ground beef that is grass-finished and regeneratively raised. It’s delicious, lean and so good. Our ground beef is 90/10 and I never have to drain off a bunch of fat.
- Bacon – Every recipe is better with bacon. You can either add precooked bacon to this recipe or you can cook bacon, chop it, and add it in.
- Macaroni Noodles – Macaroni noodles are cheap and something I always have on hand.
- Beef broth – Instead of cooking the noodles separately and dirtying another dish, I just add all the liquid I need into the same pan. I use beef broth to bring in some extra flavor.
- Worcestershire Sauce – I use Worcestershire sauce often to enhance the flavor of ground beef.
- Condensed Tomato Soup – This is my secret ingredient to adding a burst of flavor to this meal. I use condensed tomato soup all the time in my pasta recipes.
- Diced Tomatoes – I just like to add some diced tomatoes to add in some veggies and texture.
- Cream Cheese – Adding cream cheese just makes this casserole so much better. Not only does it add a comforting creaminess, but it also helps balance out the flavors.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese – To get a richer more delicious melty cheese, I like to buy the brick cheese and shred the cheese by hand. The pre-shredded stuff just isn’t as good, just trust me here.

Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole Recipe
- In a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven, combine the ground beef, seasonings, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook over medium heat until the beef is fully browned and cooked through.
- Add the tomato soup, diced tomatoes, beef broth, and noodles. Stir well to combine. Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the noodles are tender and have absorbed most of the liquid.
- In a separate skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Drain on a paper towel and allow to cool, then chop or crumble into small pieces.
- While the noodles are cooking, preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Once the noodles are soft, remove the lid and stir in the bacon and cream cheese until completely melted and smooth.
- Add 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and mix until well incorporated.
- Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese evenly over the top.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Gluten Free Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole
This recipe can easily be made to be gluten free! Here’s how:
First, make sure that all your ingredients are indeed gluten free. Everything in this recipe should be gluten free except for the noodles, but I always caution to double check and make sure your ingredients are gluten free.
Second, you will want to choose a gluten free noodle. I love the Banza gluten free chickpea noodles. They have a great flavor and are loaded with protein.
Storage and Reheating
Storage:
Allow the cheeseburger casserole to cool completely, then transfer leftovers to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
Reheating:
Reheat individual portions in the microwave in 30–60 second intervals, stirring between, until heated through. For larger portions, cover and reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed, adding a splash of broth if needed to loosen the casserole.
