Bacon Cheeseburger Recipe
Braids are one of my favorite things to make. They’re so versatile and so pretty! You literally can fill them with whatever you want and they are delicious. Sometimes I will make them with my homemade bread recipe but if I’m running behind, which more than likely I am, I just use a simple premade bread dough like Rhodes Bake N’ Serve White Bread. This cuts down on time and makes a beautiful braid that is both delicious and appetizing.
I do have a few tips and tricks to make this process easier, so make sure to read the full post. It might save you some time and help with the technique of the braid.
The Cowboys’ Rating: 9/10
Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!
What Ingredients Are in Bacon Cheeseburger Braid?
- Ground Beef – As always, we use our own homegrown ground beef that is grass-finished and regeneratively raised. It’s delicious, lean and so good. Our ground beef is 90/10 and I never have to drain off a bunch of fat.
- Rhodes Bake N’ Serve White Bread Dough – These cute little premade bread dough loaves come in a pack of three in the freezer section. You just take one out and follow the directions on the package to thaw. It is super easy and you can find it here.
- Crumbled Bacon – Just like everything in life, bacon makes things better. I buy the prepackaged crumbled bacon pieces and add it to my cheeseburger braid. You can also cook bacon and chop it up yourself if you want.
- Cheddar Cheese – This is really personal preference. My husband loves pepper jack cheese, but my kids do not, so I have used both cheddar cheese and pepper jack cheese for this recipe. Use whatever works for you. I buy the brick cheese and shred my own cheese because it melts better and has better flavor.

How to Store Bacon Cheeseburger Braid
I store the braid slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can easily be microwaved, but for best results, I have found that popping them in the air fryer or back in the oven for a few minutes is better. This makes your cheeseburger braid crisp and not soggy.
Tips and Tricks
There are two tricks that I want to share with you that will make your braid look so good instead of like biscuit can that got popped open on the ride home. The first tip is to make sure that you roll out your dough on parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Here is why… When you get done making your beautiful braid, you have to put it up and place it in a baking sheet pan. If you don’t have something underneath of it to support it, it’s ROUGH getting it on the sheet pan. Speaking from experience here.
Next, let me tell you the technique that I use for folding the braid. The first thing that I do is cut even slices. Then before I start folding any of the slices, I fold the very top and the very bottom pieces first. Then, I will begin alternating folding the strips on top of each other in a braid pattern.
