Helpful Ingredient Tips
Below is a list of the ingredients used in this recipe, along with a few helpful tips and notes that may answer questions and help you get the best results.
- Rice Krispie Cereal
- Vanilla – I prefer to use pure vanilla rather than vanilla extract. It has a richer flavor rather than the flavor you get with vanilla extract.
- Salted Butter
- Marshmallows – This is a controversial topic, but I don’t think it matters if you use mini marshmallows or large marshmallows. Either will work just fine.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk – Sweetened condensed milk is my secret ingredient for the softest rice Krispies you have ever had. Adding sweetened condensed milk helps keep Rice Krispie treats extra soft because of its high sugar and moisture content, which prevents the marshmallows from setting too firm. It also adds a rich, creamy texture that keeps the treats gooey and tender for longer instead of turning hard or dry.
- Oreos

Tools You’ll Need
- Large Stock Pot
- Spatula
- Measuring Cups & Spoons
- Parchment Paper
- 9×13″ Baking Dish
Oreo Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
- Chop the Oreos into small chunks and set aside.
- In a large stockpot, melt the butter over medium-low heat.
- Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir frequently until completely smooth and melted.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk until well combined.
- Add the Rice Krispies cereal and gently fold until evenly coated.
- Stir in most of the chopped Oreos, reserving about 1/2 cup for the top, and mix until evenly combined.
- Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and gently press it into an even layer (avoid pressing too firmly to keep the treats soft).
- Sprinkle the remaining Oreos evenly over the top.
- Let sit for about 1 hour to set, then cut into squares and serve.
- Enjoy!
*Tips and tricks*
Get the parchment paper slightly wet, then ring it out completely. Unfold it and place it in the baking dish. This makes it easier to work with and molds to whatever dish you are working with.

Gluten Free Homemade Rice Krispie Treats
This recipe is not gluten free. By making a few modifications, this recipe can be adapted to make it gluten free. You will need to switch out both the Rice Krispie cereal and the Oreos. Luckily there are Gluten Free Oreos that you can use. Additionally, below are a few gluten free cereals that would work for this recipe:

Storage Directions
Storage:
Store Oreo Rice Krispie Treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to keep them soft and gooey. For best results, place a piece of parchment or wax paper between layers to prevent sticking.
If you need to store them longer, you can refrigerate them for up to 1 week, though they may firm up slightly—just let them sit at room temperature for a bit before serving to soften again.
