Best Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

If you are new here, hi, I’m Jana and I actually specialize in beef recipes. They’re kinda my thing. Being married to a rancher for the last 15 years, we eat a lot of beef. This post roast recipe is my husband’s very favorite recipe. Did you know that the term “pot roast” isn’t about the cut of meat, rather the cooking method. The term comes from the fact that the beef is roasted in a pot and usually paired with vegetables. Ok, moving on from the history lesson, let’s talk beef.

I love to throw a beef roast in the slow cooker. It’s simple, anyone can do it, and the results are amazing. This slow cooker pot roast recipe is the ultimate Sunday dinner, packed with rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. It’s loaded with rich flavor, hearty vegetables and savory seasonings, creating a delicious, family-friendly meal with minimal effort.

What Ingredients Are in Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast?

  • Beef Roast – There are a few different roast cuts that you can use for a pot roast. My first choice is a chuck roast. Of all the beef roasts, chuck roasts are my favorite roast cut. The chuck roast comes from the shoulder of a beef and has lots of flavor. There is marbling throughout the roast that makes it tender and delicious when it’s been slow cooked all day. The next cut that I really enjoy is a rump roast. If you are looking for a leaner, less marbled roast, the rump roast is perfect for the best Sunday pot roast dinner. And finally, the last roast cut would be a round roast. All solid choices and all delicious. If you’re looking for a good source for beef, you can find that here 😉
  • Tones Beef Base -or- Better Than Bouillion – Beef base is a concentrated paste made from beef, vegetables and seasonings. It is loaded with flavor and really brings out that beef flavor. Here are my two favorite bases: Tones Beef Base + Better Than Bouillion
  • Potatoes – My two favorite kinds of potatoes are red potatoes or Yukon gold potatoes. They pair so well with this pot roast.
