Steak Bites Recipe
As a busy mom, I am always looking for quick, tasty meals my whole family will love. My family loves a good steak, but I don’t always want to fire up the grill and cook steak. So, these juicy little steak bites are always a hit. They cook in minutes, are packed with flavor, and make weeknight dinners easy.
What I love most is how simple and versatile they are. With just a few basic ingredients, I can whip up a protein-packed meal that even my picky eaters enjoy. This recipe is definitely a favorite in our house.
The Cowboys’ Rating: 10/10
Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!
What Ingredients Are in Steak Bites?
- Steak – There are two cuts of steak that I recommend for this recipe. One is ribeye steak and the second is T-Bone steak. They both are incredibly soft and tender and have great flavor. I use both of these cuts interchangeably for this recipe and they are delicious. You can use sirloin or other cuts of steak, but they are a little tougher cut.
- Butter – You are going to use both butter and olive oil to cook these steak bites. Butter adds rich, savory flavor and helps with browning.
- Olive Oil – Olive oil has a higher smoke point than butter, which helps prevent burning during the initial sear. It has a nice crust on the steak and keeps the butter from scorching too quickly.
seasonings
- Kosher Salt
- Pepper
- Minced Garlic
I keep the seasonings very simple because I believe the beef should be the star of the show, not the seasonings.

Tools You’ll Need
Recipe for Steak Bites
- Pat dry steak with paper towels.
- Cut steak into small bite sized pieces and season with olive oil, kosher salt and pepper. Set aside and let sit.
- Preheat a frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat until pan is very hot.
- Add 1 tablespoons butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil to pan.
- Place the steak bites in the pan and don’t touch them for 1-2 minutes. (this creates the golden brown crust).
- Turn the bites and cook another 1-2 minutes on the other side until they’re browned but still tender inside.
- In the last 30 seconds, add a small pat of butter and 1 tsp minced garlic to the pan, swirling to coat the steak bites.
- Remove from heat and let the steak bites rest for 3-5 minutes to keep them juicy and delicious.
- Serve and enjoy!

Storage and Reheating
Let cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, place in a freezer Ziploc bag for up to 2 months.
When reheating, I recommend reheating them in a hot skillet over medium high heat for 1-2 minutes until just warmed through. I don’t recommend microwaving them because microwaving steak can make them tough.
Tips for Perfectly Juicy and Flavorful Steak Bites
Here are my top 3 tips for making the best steak bites every time.
- Pat the steak dry. Removing excess moisture is key to getting that crispy, caramelized crust. Always pat the meat dry with a paper towel before seasoning.
- Start with a hot pan. A scorching hot skillet ensures a golden, quick sear without overcooking the inside. Don’t skip the preheat! (A cast iron skillet is ideal for steak bites.)
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan. When you are cooking steak bites, it is important that you do not overcrowd the pan. You might have to cook the steak in batches. Crowding traps steam, which prevents browning and leaves you will gray, soggy steak bites instead of crispy, flavorful ones.
