Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Recipe

With how busy life is, we all need that one delicious, kid approved meal that we can quickly throw together in one pan AND under 30 minutes. This my friends IS that recipe. I love to take classic recipes and throw a little twist on them. This Philly cheesesteak pasta has all the same flavors of a traditional Philly cheesesteak sandwich, without being a sandwich.

I start by browning some ground beef and dicing a variety of colored peppers into tiny pieces (this is so that my children do not realize there are actually peppers in the recipe – sneaky huh?). Once the ground beef is browned, I add in the seasonings, peppers and mushrooms, and finally the pasta with the liquids. I c then cover that and let it simmer until the noodles are soft. Finally, I add in the cream cheese, heavy whipping cream and mozzarella cheese, and just like that, you have the quickest, most delicious dinner in under 30 minutes.

What Ingredients Are in Philly Cheesesteak Pasta?

  • Ground Beef – As always, we use our own homegrown ground beef that is grass-finished and regeneratively raised. It’s delicious, lean and so good. Our ground beef is 90/10 and I never have to drain off a bunch of fat.
  • Large Shell Noodles – I love to use shell noodles for this recipe. They are like cute little cups that store all the goodness inside so each bite you get a little something of everything.
  • Beef broth – Instead of cooking the noodles separately and dirtying another dish, I just add all the liquid I need into the same pan. I use beef broth to bring in some extra flavor.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – I use Worcestershire sauce often to enhance the flavor of ground beef.
  • Colored Peppers – Feel free to use any type of peppers you want. I used a combo of yellow, orange and red so that it looked pretty.
  • Water
  • Cream Cheese – Cream cheese makes this pasta extra creamy and more decadent.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream – I promise you need this in this recipe. It seriously enhances all the flavors, so just don’t skip this okay?
  • Mozzarella Cheese – To fully get all the flavors of the Philly Cheesesteak, I wanted to add mozzarella cheese. It makes this Philly Cheesesteak pasta so good.
