Beef Meatballs Recipe

My kids love meatballs. These tiny little juicy and flavorful meatballs have their hearts. These meatballs are filled with ground beef, parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs and delicious seasonings, so I guess I can’t blame them for loving them. And I love them even more, because I can make a huge batch of these beef meatballs, freeze them, and use them for a quick dinner option on those crazy busy nights. I also love them because with the same beef meatball recipe, I can make a variety of different dinner meals.

The Cowboys’ Rating: 8.5/10

Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!

What Ingredients Are in Beef Meatballs?

  • Ground Beef – As always, we use our own homegrown ground beef that is grass-finished and regeneratively raised. It’s delicious, lean and so good. Our ground beef is 90/10 and I never have to drain off a bunch of fat.
  • Minced Garlic – The best meatballs are filled with flavor, which is why I like to add in some minced garlic. It adds some great flavor to the beef.
  • Onion Powder – Because I have a family of onion haters, I love using onion powder instead. It gives a nice subtle flavor here without being too overpowering.
  • Kosher Salt – Most of the time, I like to use kosher salt in my beef recipes. Kosher salt has a great flavor and really compliments the beef as well.
  • Parsley – My husband’s grandma always used to say you need something green in your dinner dish. I’m not sure if she meant this but, I like to add parsley to the meatballs because it adds a different flavor to the meatballs and it looks pretty too.
  • Pepper
  • Italian Breadcrumbs – I like to use Italian breadcrumbs because they are already flavored with Italian seasoning and are really yummy. This not only adds flavor but help to retain moisture when cooking making the meatballs nice and juicy.
  • Parmesan Cheese – I also added some grated parmesan cheese because well, we love cheese, and we love the flavor of parmesan cheese.
  • Ketchup – A few tablespoons of ketchup makes these beef meatballs so yummy and even juicer!
  • Egg – Egg binds everything together in the meatball so it doesn’t fall apart.

How to Store Beef Meatballs

If there are any leftovers, I will store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat them, simply pop them back in the microwave and they’re ready to eat!

Make Ahead Directions

Did you know that you can make a big batch of meatballs and freeze them? I love doing this! I will usually double or triple the recipe, then I will place the meatballs on a baking sheet evenly spaced, making sure they do not touch, and then I will place them in the freezer for about an hour. When the meatballs are frozen, I will then remove them from the baking sheet and place them in a freezer friendly container or freezer Ziploc bag. Freezing them first on the baking sheet makes it so that the meatballs do not freeze together in the freezer bag.

For cooking frozen meatballs, simply take out the desired amount of meatballs and bake them at 450 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature of the meatballs has reached 160 degrees F. You can also cook them in a skillet or a frying pan as well.
