Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bake Recipe

This isn’t just a traditional old sloppy joe casserole. This sloppy joe biscuit bake is loaded with deliciously seasoned beef, cheddar cheese and topped with bite sized pieces of flaky biscuits. It’s a winner for even the pickiest of eaters! And I know this to be true, because I have two of the pickiest eaters at my house. (Lucky me 🙂

I found that one of my children wasn’t a huge fan of sloppy joes with the bun. Apparently, there was too much bread? Who knew that was even a thing? But I have found that when you have kids, you learn all sorts of things. Such as, sloppy joes having too much bread. Anyway, in my effort to make something that had a sloppy joe base, but would also appease my picky eater, I made this sloppy joe biscuit bake. It was a huge success. It’s become one of our favorite casseroles to make for a weekday rotation.

The Cowboys’ Rating: 8.5/10

Every time I make a new recipe, I have my family rate the recipe out of 10. By the time, these recipes make the blog, they’ve been tried and tested by some of my hardest tiny critics!

What Ingredients Are in Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bake?

  • Ground Beef – As always, I use our own homegrown, grass finished beef. It’s lean (90/10), packed with nutrients, and so dang good.
  • Refridgerated Biscuits – For this recipe, I use Grands Original Flaky Layers Biscuits. The biscuits are buttery and flaky and pair so well with this sloppy joe biscuit bake.
  • Onion Powder – Onion powder really gives the beef some added flavor. It’s zesty without being too overpowering and gives a nice kick to you dish without offending the onion haters. (Everyone in my house hates onions. It’s a whole thing.)
  • Garlic Powder – I also use a lot of garlic powder in my recipes. I love flavorful food, and garlic powder helps bring in some intense flavor that I love. Using garlic powder compliments the other ingredients in the recipe as well.
  • Ketchup – Canned sloppy joe sauce like Manwich has a tomato base. But in my opinion, the tomato base is a little overpowering. So, I like to add ketchup to add the tomato flavor in without it being too much.
  • Brown Sugar – I like to add brown sugar so that it gives a little sweetness to the sloppy joe meat.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – Worcestershire sauce adds a savory, sweet, and event salty taste that really enhances the flavor here.
  • Mustard – Mustard for a little tang as well.
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese – This is my favorite to use but if you don’t have picky kids like I do, you can use whatever cheese blend you prefer.
